The SDT270 Electrical Basic detects corona, arcing, and tracking. By measuring amplitude of the signal, the digital display gives inspectors a quantifiable and comparable indication of condition. Included in the kit:
Inspectors trained to Level One certification are taught to distinguish different sound characteristics. It can be challenging to distinguish arcing from tracking and corona. The Pro kit adds the power of Dynamic Reading to record broadband ultrasound signals to SDT270 memory. This sound recording is transferred to PC and analysed with UAS Dynamic Suite. Both the time and frequency domain are used to determine the type of electrical fault detected. Included in the kit:
SDT270 Tightness Testing Kits combine building blocks that aid ultrasound inspectors in all aspects of tightness testing. SDT is a recognized supplier of tightness solutions for automotive, aerospace, military, and marine.
Any volume is easily inspected for tightness with the SDT270. Simply place either ultrasound emitter inside the volume thereby flooding the space with ultrasound at two distinct frequencies. An inspector on the outside of the chamber scans the seals in airborne mode. If there is a leak which represents ingress potential for water, wind, dust, or other, it is quickly registered in the headphones and on the display of the SDT270.
Deciding which kit is right for your needs depends, obviously, on your needs. The most important thing to consider is the size of the volume you will test. SDT makes two distinct ultrasound emitters. The Bi-sonic 200mW is a single emitter which has a limited volume rating. It is ideal for inspecting residential windows and small clean rooms in hospitals. It is not very efficient for inspecting large and complex volumes such as cars and ships.
The SDT8 Multi Transmitter emits ultrasound through 8 transmitters and provides the fullest coverage in the largest volume of any emitter on the market. It is designed for the complexity of automobiles and the volumetric size of a cargo ship. If you are a home inspection company interested in finding building envelope leaks residential neighborhoods the Basic kit may be sufficient. If you are a marine surveyor or a quality control manager in an automobile assembly facility then the Pro Kit is required. The Internal and Flexible Sensors are used for inspections where the seal is close at hand. The Extended Distance and Parabolic Sensors are designed for longer distance inspections. A great example is on Ro-Ro ships where the door seals are not accessible for inspection. The laser sighting on the parabolic makes it easy to pinpoint the source of leaks while standing on dock. The Basic kit includes the 200mW Bi-sonic Transmitter while the Pro kit includes both 200mW and SDT8 Multi Transmitter. A memory function in the Pro kit allows for storing readings at leaks sites and later downloading this leak data to an XML file. Included in the basic kit:
